There are birthdays we celebrate…
And then there are birthdays that quietly remind a mother that time has wings.
Today, my little girl turns thirteen.
A teenager.
A word that fills my heart with excitement, gratitude, pride… and if I’m being honest, just a tiny ache. Because somewhere between holding your tiny fingers and watching you step into this beautiful new chapter, the years simply flew by.
Every year with you has been my favourite.
Every year has given me another reason to fall in love with the person you are becoming.
This year, I watched your creativity bloom like never before. What began with a few crochet stitches has turned into beautiful creations, patiently learnt through YouTube videos and your own determination. Every flower, every toy, every pattern you’ve completed has made me the proudest mother, finding every opportunity to show the world what my daughter has created with her own hands.
Then come the moments on stage…
Whether it is dancing, singing or drama, I never watch you as just another performer. I watch you with tears of pride, quietly thanking God for giving you the confidence to stand under those lights and become someone who inspires me every single time.
Your curiosity amazes me.
Your love for science, your interest in languages, your willingness to learn and the quiet hard work you put into everything you do remind me that success is never an accident. It is built one small effort at a time, and you have learnt that lesson so beautifully.
And now…
I see a young teenager discovering herself.
Learning how to dress, experimenting with makeup, finding your own style and expressing yourself in the wonderfully aesthetic way your generation does. Watching you grow into your own identity is a joy. Just remember that makeup should only highlight the beauty that already exists within you. Your confidence, your kindness and your character will always be your most beautiful features.
If there is one thing I hope never changes, it is your heart.
The love you have for your family is unconditional.
The bond you share with your Papa is something I don’t just admire—I cherish. Watching the two of you together fills my heart with peace. I pray that God always protects this beautiful father-daughter bond and showers both of you with His blessings.
And then there’s you and your Anna…
The endless banter, the playful arguments, the laughter that follows almost every disagreement. One day you’ll both look back and realise these little moments became some of your biggest memories.
As you enter your teenage years, let me leave you with a few pieces of a mother’s heart…
Never change who you are just to fit into someone else’s world. The people who truly deserve a place in your life will love you exactly as you are.
Never allow anyone to make you feel that you are “too much” or “not enough.” You are wonderfully made.
Be kind—but don’t confuse kindness with allowing people to take advantage of you.
Trust people, but don’t trust too quickly. Let actions speak louder than words. The right people earn your trust; they never demand it.
Choose friends who celebrate your success, protect your peace and bring out the best in you.
Learn to say “no” without feeling guilty.
Don’t compare your journey with anyone else’s. Social media shows highlights, not real life.
Protect your smile, your innocence and that beautiful sparkle in your expressive eyes. I pray life never takes away that shine, because it reflects the goodness that lives within you.
Dream fearlessly.
Fail gracefully.
Stand up courageously.
Love wholeheartedly.
And whenever life becomes difficult, remember there will always be one place where you never have to pretend…
Home.
With us.
With me.
No matter how tall you grow, how independent you become or where life takes you, you will always be the little girl who taught me that the deepest love in the world is a mother’s love.
Happy 13th Birthday, my precious Sia.
May your teenage years be filled with purpose, laughter, courage, beautiful friendships, endless learning and God’s choicest blessings.
Never lose the light in your eyes.
Never lose the goodness in your heart.
And never forget that before the world knew your name, you were my greatest blessing.
I love you beyond words, beyond time and beyond this lifetime.
Happy Birthday, my beautiful teenager.
Love always and forever,
Mamma ❤️
